I Failed!

Friday was a rough day in the gym!

After deadlifts I walked over to my newly hung climbing ropes to hit some hand over hand climbs.

It was an epic fail.  Well, at least in my opinion it was.  It wasn’t like I wasn’t able to get up the rope it just wasn’t up to my standards.  Going up wasn’t a problem but lowering myself was.  My grip was a wreck!

The old me would have been pissed off and in a bad mood the rest of the day.  But the new me uses failures like this as motivation.  I need to get my grip stronger.  I need to do more bodyweight work.  I won’t let the ropes kick my ass again.

I’ve said it before, I am no longer afraid to fail whether it be in training or in my business.  If someone says no I won’t let it get me down or take it personally.  It will just be time to move on to the next group.

If I miss a lift, I’ll come back more determined to kick a** than ever before!

I have failed a lot over the last 14 months.  However, I’ve learned a little bit about myself with each failure which will no doubt lead to my success in the future.

Don’t be afraid to fail.  You have to “GFGI” if you want it!

Below are some of my favorite quotes about success and failure that have helped me change my mindset.

“The great barrier to success is the fear of failure.”

“There are no failures, just experiences and your reactions to them.”

“There are no secrets to success.  It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.”

Life, Risk, and Motivation

risk-reward

No risk, no reward.

Where would we be in this world today if people didn’t take risks?

It’s time for me to step out and take a risk of my own.

I have found a pretty great warehouse space to call my own.  Real World Strength & Conditioning is finally going to have a permanent home!

This is a huge step for me as I usually play things close to the vest but I’m ready to myself and my skills out there and see what happens.

I’m no longer afraid to fail or succeed.

There is tons of hard work staring me down but it’s time to get busy, take action, and make things happen.

Time to go to work!

Motivation and “Cindy”

Today will be short and sweet, just two quick things for you.

The following video clip is mandatory.  If you don’t watch it now you’ll likely suffer through a sluggish and unmotivated weekend.

Refer back any time you’re ready to kick some a## and need a little extra juice.

Pretty good huh?

For my last deload session of the week I ventured in to the world of crossfit and knocked out cindy.  For those that aren’t familiar with this one, it’s pretty simple.

5 pullups

10 pushup

15 squats

Set your gymboss timer for 20 minutes and complete as many rounds as possible.

I completed 19 rds. I had hope to knock out at least 21 so I certainly will be aiming for more the next time I knock out “cindy!”

That’s it for the deload week.  I did two strength sessions and two conditioning sessions.

It’s only Friday and I’m chomping at the bit for Sunday’s session.

As the Wild Gorillaman told me: “If you’re getting itchy to train, you know the deload is working!”

True Courage and Determination

I believe there are certain things you need to possess in order to succeed in life.  They are motivation, discipline, determination, and courage.  I venture to bet that the most successful people in life have an extremely high volume of each of these four qualities.

The other morning while eating breakfast I  learned what true courage and determination really means.  I had the privilege of learning about two, most outstanding young gentlemen.  Their names are Leroy Sutton and Dartanyon Crockett.

What these two men have overcome in their lives is nothing short of remarkable.  This is one of the most moving stories I’ve seen, read, and heard.  It really put a lot of things in perspective for me and I think it will for you as well.

Take the time to watch the story of Leroy and Dartanyon or click the link to story below the video.

Sorry to get so deep but this really is a great story.

What is YOUR Motivation to Stay Strong? What Keeps YOU Disciplined? – Part II

Hey guys!

I just finished a killer conditioning workout full of hill sprints, sled dragging, and sandbag shouldering.  I had my tire sled, sandbag, rope, and cones set up on the street in front of my house!  I’m sure my neighbors were wondering what in the world I was doing.  I love getting up early on Sunday’s and hitting a tough conditioning workout.  I know most people like to use their weekends to sleep in.  But I’m a morning person and I love putting in some hard work while most folks are still sleeping.

It’s all about motivation and discipline.  If you have it in training as well as life, you’ll no doubt be successful in both. Read my earlier post on motiviation and discipline to find out what keeps me going.

I also want to share with you an inspirational and though provoking post I read this morning by Zach Even Esh.  He offers his thoughts on why you MUST be strong.

Read my post on motivation and discipline here.

Read Zach’s post on my you have to be strong here.

I’d love to here your thoughts on both posts.

Have an awesome day!
